FOR SALE Penny farthing ordinary bicycle, c 1887

Penny farthing ordinary bicycle, c 1887, original, tangent spokes, 52 inch, oval backbone, hollow rim, very good rideable

This bicycle is an original 19th century penny farthing. Estimated 1887 plus or minus 2 years.

Like the top models of the period 1886-1890 it has tangent (crossed) spokes, a hollow front rim, an oval backbone. And of course adjustan;e ba;; bearings front and rear.

Rims are perfectly straight, which is very rare and which makes it a very good and fast rider.  We still ride it sometimes.

I bought this bicycle in Germany , details like handlebar fixation and front wheel bearings indicate Coventry Machinists Co, (CMC) but there is no serial number, so I think it is a bicycle constructed in Germany by Adler, Opel or other firms that used CMC parts. The rear hub is made by Bown Aeolus, a quality product of those days.

The bicycle is situated in Tilburg, Netherlands. Price to be discussed.

You can ride it home! I will help with transport if required.
